Renovation of an apartment located in the Poblenou neighborhood.
The project involves the interior renovation of an apartment in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona. It has two facades, one facing the street and the other facing the interior courtyard, and two interior courtyards.
The strategy chosen to resolve the layout involves distinguishing two areas. The first opens toward the interior facade and concentrates the more intimate spaces, which require less space and more compartmentalization, such as bedrooms and bathrooms.
The second is located on the street facade and houses the more public spaces, creating a single open space that includes the kitchen, dining room, living room, and study.
The proposal maximizes natural light and ventilation and provides a sense of spaciousness and fluidity to the home. With the aim of meeting the needs of the residents, three elements were designed that, in addition to their primary use, also serve as storage: the dining bench, the armchair, and the desk furniture.
Regarding the materials, the decision was made to highlight the original elements. The hydraulic pavement was restored, and the ceramic vaults were painted and left exposed. This decision proposes a play of form and color, while also reflecting the traces of time.
