Renovation of an apartment located in the Sant Antoni neighborhood.
The project involves the renovation of an apartment in Barcelona's Eixample district. It is located on a corner, which explains its long and narrow, almost corridor-like floor plan.
Before the renovation, the home had undergone multiple transformations. The original hydraulic paving and Catalan vaulted ceiling had been covered with various layers of low-value materials. The proposal seeks to bring them out, recapturing the essence of the place.
In terms of layout, the space is adapted to contemporary lifestyles and the specific needs of its inhabitants. The home is structured around two wooden boxes that delimit the most intimate spaces (the bedrooms), maximizing the use of natural light and ventilation, as well as providing spacious and flexible common areas.
These boxes also serve as storage, and in one case, include a loft bed, freeing up the ground floor space for other necessary uses.
The strips occupied by the <> feature continuous flooring, while the original hydraulic tiles have been preserved throughout the rest of the floor. This interplay of materials and textures breaks away from the original elongated proportions of the home.
